Note that this doesn't do anything when saving. You'll still have to have the value properly converted to UTC before you try to save it. To store a timezone in the database, add a separate text column containing the timezone ID. In PostgreSQL, timestamp with time zone represents a UTC timestamp, while timestamp without time zone represents a local or unspecified time zone.
